April 16, 2022 - Fly to Cape May for Lunch

This Saturday morning we are heading east to Cape May for brunch.  The weather is good for flying.  Just about everything is green now.  We have five planes:  Chuck (RV-7A), Brian (RV-8), Mark (RV-8), Rich/Nhu-An (Decathelon) and moi (RV-7).

Following Brian and Mark in the vicinity of Cape May Airport.  Ahead is the Atlantic Ocean and Jersey Shore.

Looking down at Cape May airport.

Turning downwind.

Another look at Cape May airport while on downwind for 28.

Four RVs lined up on the ramp at Cape May with the big Hangar One from WWII in the background at right.

Chuck, Mark and Nhu-An showing a positive mental attitude during the wait.

After a delicious breakfast, we were greeted by the sight of multiple Epsilons on the ramp.  The Red Star guys were practicing form today.  They used to fly CJs and Yaks but the Red Star pilots in the Mid-Atlantic area have shifted over to the Epsilon which was a French military trainer, like our T-34.

Another Epsilong by itself.

At least two or three more Epsilons, plus a T-34, were further down the line.

Rich's Decathelon was the only high-wing on the ramp.

A red helicopter taxies (flies) down the taxiway.

Start your engines!

Rich and Nhu-An taxi out.

We did some form practice both to and from Cape May.  On the way back, the air was bumpy, even at 4,500 feet, so we knocked it off.

Back in Chuck's hangar, Chuck served Strawberry Shortcake!  It was outstanding.  Apparently, there was a place near Sun 'N Fun that was famous for its Strawberry Shortcake.  Chuck and I didn't get to go to Sun 'N Fun due to weather but Chuck really wanted that Strawberry Shortcake, so he did it himself.
